Itinerary
Day 1: Ha Giang → Thai An → Duong Thuong → Mau Due → Meo Vac → Ma Pi Leng Pass → Dong Van ( ~ 120km )
Your journey begins at 8:30 AM, when our guide picks you up from your hotel or the bus station in Ha Giang Center. After a short briefing about the route and safety tips, you’ll meet your Easy Rider and get ready for an unforgettable day exploring the most scenic roads of northern Vietnam.
As you leave Ha Giang, the city quickly fades behind you and the landscape opens into towering mountains, winding rivers, and lush forests. After just 20 minutes on the road, you’ll find yourself surrounded by dramatic valleys and rugged limestone cliffs — a perfect introduction to the beauty of the Ha Giang Loop. Along the way, your guide will stop at several scenic viewpoints so you can take photos and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
After about two hours, you’ll reach Thai An, a small Hmong and Tay village. Here, you’ll ride through quiet local roads, passing wooden houses, green cornfields, and peaceful rural life. The journey continues toward Duong Thuong, where panoramic landscapes begin to unfold more dramatically.
Your next stop is Mau Due, where the road becomes smoother, giving you more time to relax and take in the breathtaking scenery. Limestone mountains rise in layers like natural stone towers, and from here the route leads you toward the famous M Slope — one of the most beautiful winding climbs in the entire Ha Giang Loop. This is a great place to pause, enjoy the incredible views, and see how local people grow crops on steep, rocky mountainsides during the farming season.
Around 1:00 PM, you’ll enjoy lunch at a cozy local restaurant surrounded by majestic mountain scenery right outside the window.
After lunch, the ride continues to Meo Vac and then to the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass — one of the Four Greatest Passes of northern Vietnam. This cliffside road offers dramatic views of jagged limestone peaks and the emerald Nho Que River far below. Your Easy Rider will help you take amazing photos and ensure you have time to soak in the unforgettable scenery.
By 4:30 PM, you’ll arrive in Dong Van, check into your homestay, shower, and rest.
At 7:00 PM, your guide and Easy Rider will take you out for a delicious dinner, where you’ll share local dishes and perhaps enjoy a few cups of “happy water” (corn or rice wine). After dinner, you’re free to wander around the charming Dong Van Old Quarter, enjoy a coffee, or watch traditional Hmong performances (seasonal) — the perfect ending to your first incredible day in Ha Giang.
Day 2: Dong Van – Tham Ma Pass – Yen Minh – Can Ty Pass – Quan Ba – Bac Sum Pass – Ha Giang ( ~ 140km )
You’ll begin your morning with a small breakfast, and perfect for fueling up before the ride. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee, then meet your guide and Easy Rider to start the second day of your adventure.
Leaving Dong Van, your first stop is the fascinating Lunar Rock Field, a dramatic valley filled with sharp limestone formations that look like the surface of another planet. It’s a great place to walk around, take photos, and learn how Hmong communities have adapted to living among these rugged rocks for generations.
From here, you ride toward the iconic Tham Ma Pass, famous for its tight switchbacks and steep mountain walls. From above, the road curves like a ribbon through the valley — one of the most photogenic spots of the whole loop. Your rider will help capture incredible photos of you with the winding pass behind.
The journey continues toward Yen Minh, passing peaceful pine forests, soft green hills, and terraced fields. The landscape becomes gentler here, offering a relaxing and refreshing ride.
Your cultural stop of the day is Lung Tam Village, known for its traditional Hmong hemp weaving. You’ll see firsthand how local women spin, dye, and weave hemp into beautiful handmade textiles — an authentic and meaningful experience, with opportunities to support the artisans directly.
Leaving Lung Tam, you’ll ride across the scenic Can Ty Pass, where the road hugs the mountainside and opens up to sweeping views of deep valleys and vibrant greenery. It’s one of the calmest and most beautiful stretches of the entire route.
Around midday, you’ll reach Quan Ba Heaven Gate at 1,500 meters above sea level. Here you’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch at a family-run restaurant overlooking the panoramic valley below. After lunch, your guide will take you to the viewpoint of the famous Twin Mountains (Fairy Bosom Hills) — two perfectly rounded limestone hills standing symmetrically in the center of the valley.
From Quan Ba, the adventure continues across the stunning Bac Sum Pass, known for its long, elegant curves wrapping around the mountains and offering breathtaking views of the valley. It’s a beautiful final highlight before descending back toward Ha Giang.
You’ll arrive in Ha Giang around 4:00 PM, marking the end of your 2-day journey filled with dramatic landscapes, rich local culture, and unforgettable memories on the Ha Giang Loop.
